Without automation

Managing Messenger
manually —
costs you dearly

Without HAPP every Facebook Page demands constant manual attention.

Handling

Manual replies in Messenger around the clock

Every message on the Facebook Page needs a manual reply — nights, weekends, no breaks.

Organization

Messages get lost across Pages

When a business has multiple Facebook Pages, the team switches between tabs and misses customer messages.

Configuration

Complex Meta authorization and permissions

OAuth, pages_messaging, Webhook — without HAPP setup takes hours and requires technical knowledge.

Features

Token

OAuthException

Page Access Token expired

Re-run OAuth in HAPP → Integrations → Facebook Messenger → Reconnect. It takes under a minute.

Permissions

Messenger permissions not granted

During OAuth the pages_messaging or pages_manage_metadata permissions were not approved. Re-run authorization and approve all permissions.

Webhook

Webhook not registered

HAPP could not register the Webhook in Meta. Verify all permissions are granted and reconnect.

Page

Facebook Page not connected

The Page was not selected during OAuth or has been deactivated. Make sure the Page is active and re-run authorization.

Rate limit

Messaging limit exceeded

Meta limits Messenger message volume by app tier. HAPP queues and retries them automatically.

OAuth

OAuth authorization cancelled

Authorization was interrupted or the OAuth window was closed. Return to HAPP → Integrations → Facebook Messenger and try connecting again.

Integration management

Disconnecting and reconnecting

What happens to your data and how to properly disconnect or restore the Facebook Messenger integration.

Disconnect

How to disconnect Messenger

Three steps — the integration stops, your data stays.

  1. 1Go to HAPP → Integrations → Facebook Messenger.
  2. 2Click Disconnect next to the Page name.
  3. 3Confirm the action in the dialog.

What happens after disconnecting

  • New messages will stop arriving in HAPP
  • The Webhook subscription will be cancelled in Meta
  • The Facebook Page stays active
  • Conversation history is preserved in HAPP

Reconnect

How to reconnect Messenger

Re-run OAuth authorization — all data is preserved.

  1. 1Go to HAPP → Integrations → Facebook Messenger.
  2. 2Click Connect and re-run the OAuth flow.
  3. 3HAPP automatically re-registers the Webhook in Meta.

What is preserved after reconnecting

  • Full conversation history stays in HAPP
  • Assistant and filter settings
  • Facebook Page binding
  • Channel statistics and analytics
Frequently asked questions

FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about Facebook Messenger integration.

Do I need a personal Facebook account to connect?

Yes, but only for OAuth authorization. You need a personal Facebook account with admin or editor rights on the business Page. After authorization HAPP works autonomously — the personal account is not used.

What is pages_messaging and why is it needed?

pages_messaging is a Meta permission that allows HAPP to send and receive messages on behalf of your Facebook Page via the Messenger API. Without it the integration cannot send replies.

Can I connect multiple Facebook Pages?

Yes. During OAuth authorization select multiple Pages at once. Each Page creates its own channel in HAPP with its own assistant or operator team.

Is there a 24-hour window in Messenger like in WhatsApp?

Yes. Meta allows free replies for 24 hours after the customer's last message. After that, Message Tags must be used for specific scenarios or notification subscriptions.

Can I see in HAPP who messaged in Messenger?

Yes. HAPP receives the PSID (Page-Scoped User ID) — a unique sender identifier for your Page. Name and photo are fetched via Graph API unless the user restricted access.

What happens if I revoke permissions in Facebook settings?

HAPP will receive an OAuthException and stop processing messages. Go to HAPP → Integrations → Facebook Messenger, click Reconnect, and re-run OAuth.

Can customers tell an AI is replying?

The customer sees messages from your Facebook Page — the Page name and photo remain yours. You decide whether to mention that an AI assistant is responding.
